Sacco's Reopens in Davis Sq with a new addition - flatbread pizza!

When I lived in Davis Square in my early 20s, I adored Sacco's Bowling - niot only for its retro vibe, but more importantly for it's candle pin bowling - the only type I'm remotely good at! And thankfully, after a short period of rehab, it's back, with food!

As I learned from Thrillist today, Flatbread Co.revived the old Saccos into a more modern bowl/bar/restaurant by completely gutting the place and making into a 180-seat space that still has ten bowling lanes. What was added - two domed wood-fire clay stone ovens, rust red colored/exposed brick/wood-planked walls, hand-blown glass billiard ball light fixtures, and a massive 40-seat bowling alley-length bar made of wood from the old lanes. The menu of flatbreads features Homemade Sausage (nitrate-free maple fennel sausage w/ caramelized onions, sun-dried tomatoes, and organic mushrooms); and a Kalamata and Vermont butter goat cheese number with red onions and fire-roasted red peppers called the Co-evolution. For drinks, the new bar will offer craft cocktails featuring Gloucester-distilled Beauport Vodka, and organic liquors from other local small batch distilleries, plus 40 taps w/ 20 mostly Mass-based drafts including Pretty Things, Opa Opa, and Berkshire. They had me at hello. One thing I hope that's still left from the old place - the jukebox with JT and Pure Disco CDs, and the old ads with how much tuition was at Tufts back in the day. Flatbread Co's Sacco Bowling Haven is located at 45 Day St in Somerville.
